Pelo Luar do Sertão
Bonito, que faz chorar.
Pela força de um cantar
Que embala o coração,
Pela voz, pela emoção,
Pelo chão, seco e rachado,
De um Nordeste flagelado,
Pela luta, pela lida,
Cantada em Triste Partida,
Luiz Gonzaga, obrigado!

Pela Sala de Rebôco,
A casinha de sapé,
Por Padin Ciço, sua fé,
Esperança, no sufôco,
Todo obrigado é pôco,
Nâo há poesia que paga
A beleza dessa saga
Iluminando o Sertão
Na fé de Frei Damião,
Obrigado, Luiz Gonzaga!

Pela estória do jumento

Neste meu depoimento
Que faço, todo feliz
Meu verso, alegre só diz
Sabendo ser verdadeiro
A esse grande brasileiro:

Por seu filho Gonzaguinha
Que contigo foi morar,
Mas soube valorizar
Com amor, o pai que tinha,
Cantando como convinha
Herdando tua emoção,
Que gravou com o coração
A vida do Viajante,
Eu repito, a todo instante:
Obrigado, Gonzagão!

Por sua sanfona branca
A alegrar brasileiros
Pelos temas tão faceiros
Que cantou, sem botar banca,
A saudade nunca estanca
E eu digo, emocionado
A este Rei coroado:
Seu povo ainda lhe quer,
Deus lhe guarde, onde estiver,
Luiz Gonzaga, obrigado!
